A Fond Farewell from Stevenage Ladies Choir

After 66 wonderful years of music, friendship and community spirit, it is with great sadness that we announce that Stevenage Ladies Choir will be disbanding at the end of 2026.

Founded in 1960, the choir has been privileged to entertain audiences across Stevenage, Hertfordshire and beyond, performing locally and nationally at concerts, festivals, civic events and special occasions. Generations of women have come together through a shared love of singing, creating not only beautiful music but also lifelong friendships and treasured memories.

Throughout our history, we have been proud to use our music as a force for good. Thanks to the incredible support of our audiences, members and supporters, over £100,000, possibly even more, has been raised for local charities and good causes during the choir’s lifetime. Knowing that our singing has helped so many people and organisations in our community is a legacy of which we are immensely proud.

This decision has not been taken lightly. While the choir may have reached the end of its journey, the memories of rehearsals, concerts, tours, laughter, dedication and shared achievement will remain in the hearts of all who have been part of Stevenage Ladies Choir.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to:

  • every past and present choir member,

  • our patrons and members families,

  • our musical directors and accompanists,

  • concert organisers and partner organisations,

  • and, most importantly, the loyal audiences who supported us over the decades.

Our final concert will be on Saturday 12th December 2026 in aid of MND and St Hugh and St John’s Church, and will be held at St Hugh and St John’s Church, Stevenage at 16:00. Doors opening at 15:30. Although the final note has nearly been sung, the spirit of Stevenage Ladies Choir will live on through the music we shared, the friendships we formed, and the positive impact we made together over six remarkable decades.
